Operating systems

When ordering a virtual server, it is possible to choose one of the pre-installed Linux-based operating systems.
This is always a basic installation with no additional software. The customer can access the server with full rights via SSH as root user.
The last option is to order a virtual server without an operating system. After setting up the server, the customer connects a CD/DVD of his choice in the customer administration, boots from the CD/DVD and performs his own installation of any system. If the customer installs an operating system that requires a license, the customer is obliged to have such a license and to present it upon request.

What is a VPS SSD?

A VPS SSD is a virtual server on a high-performance rack server, of which you use a proportionate part for a corresponding price. The service is designed for the most demanding customers who need special settings and add-ons not available on Webhosting, or higher performance, while not wanting to pay higher monthly amounts for a dedicated server. Compared to VPS ON, the VPS SSD solution is cheaper, but at the same time less flexible, because performance can only be increased in modules with a fixed amount of CPU, RAM and disk size.

What is KVM?

KVM (Keyboard-Video-Mouse) is the generic name for the technology for remote access to a server's monitor, keyboard and mouse. This access is not dependent on the operating system, so it works even if the operating system on the VPS has crashed, you can also boot the system from CD/DVD, control the BIOS, etc. More information can be found in the knowledge base.

Can I install Windows on a VPS SSD?

For the Windows operating system, especially newer versions (10 and higher), we recommend VPS ON.
